This is the
original New York Times Obituary
for
William Griffith Wilson
(Bill W.) who died
in 1971 at the age of 75.

(Approximately 63
column inches)
Bill Wilson in 1935 was the co founder of
Alcoholics Anonymous,
and one of the first in modern times to recover from a
disease
which had theretofore been irreversible. The program of
recovery which
Alcoholics Anonymous developed and spread,
primarily byword-of-mouth and
personal contact, has saved
millions of alcoholics and their family members from
the effects
of what is a truly dreadful disease, all without demonizing alcohol.
